We are delighted to present our latest production, “Stand Firm for Our Land”, a campaign video created by our team for Greenpeace. The story unfolds through the eyes of Gugu the dove, a symbolic reflection of the people of Hong Kong.

Storyline
“What? It’s only Monday…?” Like many Hongkongers, Gugu works tirelessly day and night, always looking forward to weekends to escape into nature and breathe fresh air. But this time, Gugu witnesses scenes of heartbreaking destruction.

A landfill of construction waste buries the yellow-breasted bunting’s habitat; overcrowded tourism crushes horseshoe crabs underfoot; Chinese white dolphins and local cattle are struck by boats and vehicles. Surrounded by the cries of injured animals, Gugu breaks down in tears. Encouraged by others, Gugu regains hope and travels back in time to restore and protect the natural world.

Concept
As Hong Kong’s countrysides have become popular social media spots, excessive tourism has imposed a heavy burden on nature. In the animation, Gugu travels back in time before the destruction—but in reality, we have no time machines. Once harm is done to nature, it’s hard to undo. That’s why Hong Kong’s ecosystems need all of us to protect them together.

From “Lantau Tomorrow” to today’s eco-tourism concerns, Greenpeace continues to advocate for Hong Kong’s environment, driving real change. We stand with the city, safeguarding our shared home.

Character Design
The main character, Gugu, is based on a common Hong Kong bird—the spotted dove—fondly known as “gugu-gu.” Familiar and endearing, it creates an emotional connection with the audience. The story blends first-person and third-person perspectives, allowing viewers to experience Gugu’s daily life and struggles firsthand. The art style combines simple linework with hand-painted colors for a natural, heartfelt tone.

Music
Original music composed by CMgroovy features ambient natural sounds, building a warm and emotionally rich atmosphere. Gugu has no spoken dialogue—its inner emotions are expressed through facial expressions and on-screen narration, creating a visual and emotional connection with the audience.
